The Daily Vinyl video #27: "Hot For Teacher" by Van Halen

Original upload date: Sept 25, 2009

About this Vinyl Video video: Not much to say. ENJOY!

BTW, thanks to the boys who helped with the apples. Sorry your heads aren't in the shot.
That's downside to doing everything in 1 take with little set-up time. It keeps it real.

The Daily Vinyl video #23: "Stagnation" by Genesis (w/ Peter Gabriel)

Original upload date: Aug 25, 2009

About this Vinyl Video video: I believe this would be the first really obscure song on The Daily Vinyl. (I know what you’re saying, GENESIS? Obscure? Everybody knows "she seems to have an Invisible Touch, and it sucks!") Well, this is a VERY different GENESIS. This is before Phil Collins was the singer. Before Phil was even the drummer! ("What? Phil Collins wasn't the original drummer?" A: Nope.)

They were five 20-year-olds exploring their 12-string guitars and early keyboards. Peter Gabriel was the lead singer and his voice is as strong as ever! “Stagnation” is the first song on Side 2 of their 2nd full-length album called “Trespass.” This album is magical. It has recently been remixed and released on CD w/ a 5-1 DVD mix. More magic.

It was very tempting to go crazy with the special effects because this song has so many moods throughout. Sometimes just ducks being fed didn’t feel like enough. Although, as you will see, I used some tasty-full-ness.

Oh, and don’t wait for a sing-along chorus. It’s not a pop song. Although the closing instrumental melody starting around 7:23 has been a mainstay in medleys (specifically “I Know What I Like”) even up ’til their reunion tour in 2007.

Thanks to Shelby Bottoms Park in East Nashville for use of the duck pond.

No ducks were harmed in the making of this video.
